Find The Help You Crave

It’s no surprise we all get a lot done by focusing on close-up work for hours on end. This kind of work can eventually take its toll on your body, causing a range of issues, including headaches, neck and shoulder pain, or even eye strain.

Patients who experience headaches on a daily or almost daily basis and who have been unresponsive to the wide range of commonly prescribed headache treatments are said to suffer from refractory chronic daily headaches (CDH).

In some cases, you may be experiencing what is known as trigeminal dysphoria. Fortunately, our team is here to help! Please book an appointment with our team, and we can help use the latest technology to diagnose and manage your symptoms today.

What is Trigeminal Dysphoria?

Trigeminal dysphoria is a is a term that describes a variety of symptoms including headaches, eyestrain, dry eye sensation, motion sickness, neck, and shoulder pain. It can sometimes disguise itself as symptoms of dry eye, when in fact it’s caused by eyestrain related to prolonged close-up work.

Symptomatic patients have an ocular misalignment causing the visual system to work overtime to compensate, constantly making small binocular adjustments and stressing the largest and most complex nerve connecting to the brain, the trigeminal nerve.

When you’re doing close-up work, your eyes are making constant binocular movements that can produce excess proprioceptive afferent fibers that can overstimulate your trigeminal ganglion.

This overstimulation then causes headaches, eyestrain, and even dry eye symptoms.

What is Neurolens Technology?

One of the first steps to managing refractory chronic daily headaches or trigeminal dysphoria could be using the Neurolens Ocular Motility Testing device. The Neurolens Measurement Device is a device designed to measure binocular misalignment of the peripheral and central visual tracking systems.

This device measures how well your eyes track objects at near and far distances, and their ability for binocular movement.

By taking into account these measurements and your prescription, we can develop lenses to help reduce or even eliminate your symptoms.

Neurolens technology produces contoured prism lenses. Unlike standard prisms, Neurolens employs a proprietary lens design to help seamlessly vary the prismatic correction provided to the eyes at different distances.

This allows clinicians to customize the lens correction for each individual patient depending on both patient needs and the clinical findings.

What this means is that it takes the information provided by the Neurolens Measurement Device and designs lenses to correct these slight misalignments while also correcting your underlying refractive error.

Take our short survey to see if you could benefit from Neurolens technology.
